  1. Yes C is the best answer. This is covered in my book STABILITY AND TRIM FOR THE SHIP'S OFFICER, 4th Edition, in Chapter 12, The Ship in the Damaged Condition, on pages 290 and 291. "The upward force in tons on the ship's bottom caused by the grounding is equivalent to the removal of the same number of tons from this area."
