ReplyDeleteA. is a bad choice. You never counterflood if you have an angle of loll caused by a negative GM. In fact the proper procedure is to take ballast on the low side to reduce KG and hopefully turn a negative GM into a positive GM with an off-center weight.
B. flooding? this makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are not talking damage stability here just how to correct a list. So there is no assumed damage or flooding in this question.
D. reserve buoyancy? Again we are not dealing with a damaged condition. This is a better detractor than choice B. But it still makes no sense with this question.
So C. is the best answer.
Simply stated if you are in a row boat with a friend and you have a list, just scoot a little to the high side of the thwart to reduce the list. Do not stand up, you might make your row boat's positive GM negative. If your friend shifts their weight in this case while you are standing the boat might capsize!
