A ship's forward draft is 22'-04" and its after draft is 24'-00". The draft amidships is 23'-04". This indicates aconcentration of weight __________.
A. at the bow
B. in the lower holds
C. amidships
D. at the ends
A. at the bow
B. in the lower holds
C. amidships
D. at the ends
The average of the forward and after draft = (22.33 ft + 24.0 ft)/2 = 23.165 or 23'-02".
ReplyDeleteComparing the Fore and Aft Mean of 23'-02" to the Midships Draft of 23'-04" we find the Midships Draft is deeper so the vessel is sagging. I would choose Choice C. a concentration of weight amidships.
Do you Agree or Disagree?
Charley; more weight in the center causing a sagging condition.
