Daily License Questions about Ship Stability and Trim: I just think people need to have some knowledge in their heads, professional or otherwise. After 2007 our world has changed due to the advent of Smart Phones. Retaining knowledge is like being able to play a musical instrument, if you do not use it you will lose it! The questions I post with will hopefully help you keep what you already know or remind you of what you should know. William E. George
B drag
ReplyDeleteI assumed so but haven't heard that term before.
ReplyDeleteDrag
ReplyDeleteDrag is a term used mostly on tankers. To pump off the liquid cargo it is necessary to have trim by the stern or drag because the suctions are located near the after bulkhead of each tank.
ReplyDeleteUnderway, trim by the stern also creates more drag aft than forward due more wetted surface aft than forward, so the vessel steers easy. It is similar to feathers on an arrow.
BRAVO; DRAG
