If a vessel lists to port, the center of buoyancy will __________.

B. move to starboard move
C. directly down
D. stay in the same position
A. move to port
B. move to starboard move
C. directly down
D. stay in the same position
A
ReplyDeleteA is correct
ReplyDeleteIf center of Buoyancy is the point all upward vertical forces coincide, a vessel listing to port will require more help pushing upward on port side due to its list. Additionally, as a vessel lists port, the center of underwater portion also shifts port and so does the CB.
DeleteB
ReplyDeleteI agree A. is the best answer. Something to consider when a vessel is heeled over due to wind or an external force its righting arm, GZ, is positive, however when a vessel is listed the value of the righting arm is zero!
